Nauvoo is hosting the fifth annual Scarecrow Festival.  Over thirty-five scarecrows will be on display along the Mulholland Street business district from October 2nd through the month of October.  Awards will be given to the top 3 entries.  The crows are not scared by Covid 19.  They will be socially distanced and are looking forward to both old and new “crows” to join them.  They are welcoming back the popular minions.

Take advantage of the “Photo Frame” opportunity to have memories captured using your cell phone or camera.

The fifth annual Scarecrow Festival is sponsored by the Nauvoo Betterment Association, a group dedicated to promoting and encouraging improvements to the quality of life in Nauvoo.

The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship

The Molly Hurley Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to help cosmetology students to follow their dreams in honor of the late Molly Hurley.

The scholarship is open to any Lee, Hancock, or Clark County high school graduate or individual 18 or older who will be enrolled in cosmetology school in 2022. This is a partial scholarship to be provided directly to the chosen candidate’s cosmetology school of choice. Applications will be open for submissions on August 1st, 2021 with the deadline for applications on December 1st, 2021. 

The scholarship committee will be holding the following events in their efforts to make the scholarship fund as beneficial as possible for the 2021 applicants. Fundraising money with a Lip Sync Battle Contest!!

Rules: To participate in the “2021 Lip Sync Battle 2021 – Molly Hurley Scholarship Fundraiser” fill out the entry form on www.mollyhurleymemorialscholarship.com  . You can enter the night of the event 30 min before start time, however, we recommend pre-registering to assure we have your song choice. A $10 entry fee will be collected on the night of the event before your performance! The winner of each event will perform at our Grand Finale on October 22nd, 2021 at Rascal’s Pub & Grub. Must be 21 to enter. If an entrant does not win at their event they can enter at one of the following events leading up to the finale. No more entrants will be accepted after the October 9th event.

August 14th at Warsaw Brewery in Warsaw, IL at 8pm

Sept. 17th at 2nd time around, Warsaw, IL at 8pm

Sept. 25th at Montrose Sandbar 9:30pm in Montrose, IA

Oct. 9th at Red Dog Saloon in Meyer, Illinois at 7pm

Oct. 22nd The Finale at Rascals in Keokuk at 8pm
