DES MOINES, IOWA – SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 — Iowans across the state can tune-in and watch a star-studded lineup from Broadway, film and TV and help raise funds to support Derecho disaster recovery efforts. Mediacom will televise the live “Iowa Concert of Hope” Thursday evening (Oct. 1), expanding viewership to include all subscriber homes across Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota.

The Thursday evening benefit concert begins at 7 pm. Funds raised during the event will benefit local derecho-response efforts, including the Iowa Derecho Resource Center, the Iowa Giving Crew, and the Disaster Recovery Fund of the United Way of East Central Iowa.

“You don’t have to live in eastern Iowa to know about the devastating and widespread damage caused by the Derecho storm. Families and small businesses are suffering, and people throughout the Midwest want to help,” said Mediacom Senior Vice President Ed Pardini.

“Mediacom’s statewide TV channel, MC22, will expand the audience and help event organizers raise money to meet immediate needs at the community level. Organizers and the arts community in Cedar Rapids orchestrated this talent-packed concert, and it makes sense to share the performances with a large audience, which we will do with the MC22 telecast.”

In addition to televising the “Iowa Concert of Hope” across its cable network, Mediacom announced that it will contribute $10,000 to the Derecho recovery effort as designated by organizers of the benefit concert.

The concert lineup will be filled with Iowa connections. Marion native Ron Livingston, star of “Office Space” and “Band of Brothers” will introduce the event, and KCRG News Anchor Beth Malicki will serve as host. Performers include Larry Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers; Cedar Rapids native and Metropolitan Opera singer Kelly Cae Hogan; and a variety of Broadband and television actors. For the full list, go to
