Written by Leah Jones on March 12, 2020
The following are cancellations in the Tri-State due to precautions on the potential spread of COVID-19.
*Eddie Mauro, candidate for U.S. Senate has cancelled his visits to Lee County for Friday, March 13. His campaign believes it is the best action to take at this time due to the coronavirus and the public’s safety
*Carthage and Hamilton Senior Meal Sites
Starting March 12 and Until Further Notice: We will only be able to serve lunch as carry-outs. We can no longer serve lunch in-house or have public gatherings of any kind at the Carthage Senior Meal Site or the Hamilton Senior Meal Site due to the risks of contracting Coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes bingo, gatherings for games, etc. Meals will still be available for carry-out. Each individual will need to come in, sign the sheet, and get their meal to take home. Home delivers and frozen meal pick-ups will remain the same. Individual appointments for assistance at the Hancock County Information and Assistance office in Carthage with applications, taxes, etc. will still be available and will continue at this time. This is to protect the safety of our community and the seniors that frequent ADRC (Aging, Disability Resource Centers) facilities. These are mandatory guidelines from the ‘Illinois Department on Aging’ that we are following. Please be patient and understanding. We are trying to protect our most vulnerable folks from this rapidly-spreading disease.
*Community Action of Southeast Iowa
Day of the Child at Westland Mall, West Burlington, March 22, 2020 has been cancelled.
