In what has become a regular announcement on every Monday, Iowa Hawkeye center Megan Gustafson was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the ninth time this season.
The senior ties former Ohio State player Jantel Lavender for the conference record for career Player of the Week selections with her 19th and also ties her own record for most selections in one season, a mark she set last year.
She is coming off her country leading 19th double-double of the season after scoring 25 and grabbing 11 rebounds to help Iowa win their fifth straight game against Purdue.
Also leading the country in scoring at 26.4 points per game and shooting an NCAA best 71.3% from the field, Gustafson is expected to repeat as Big Ten Player of the Year and possibly capture another All-American nod.
To top it off, she is also number four in the country with 12.9 rebounds per contest and is seventh in the Big Ten with 32 blocks.
