The Iowa Hawkeye women’s basketball team fell on the road Thursday night to the Purdue Boilermakers 62-57.
A close game throughout, Iowa trailed by five points at the halftime break and even took the lead after the third quarter, but were outscored by six in the fourth.
Megan Gustafson and Hannah Stewart were both in double digits in scoring with 19 and 17, respectively, but they were the only players to shoot at or above 50% for the game.
The two combined to go 16-27 from the field while the rest of the team shot a combined 7-29. This included shooting 3-17 from the three point line.
An eight point lead with about six minutes left was not big enough for the Hawkeyes as Purdue scored eight straight to tie the game up.
Four Boilermakers finished in double figures, led by 16 each from Karissa McGlaughlin and Dominique Oden.
Kathleen Doyle posted her sixth straight game with at least five assists, finishing with seven dimes for the contest.
Gustafson led the team with 13 rebounds to record her 14th double-double of the season, but fouled out with just under two minutes to play and Iowa trailing by two points.
Iowa is now 11-4 (2-2) on the season and will be back in action on Monday with another road game against the Minnesota Gophers beginning at 6 PM.
