Adam Kraus and Corey Samuels do not want anyone in Keokuk going cold this winter.
Forth generation company Kraus and Sons is teaming up with Mancountry for the ‘Winter Warm Up Program 2017’. A donation based fundraiser to make sure no one is without a functioning heater this winter in the city of Keokuk.
“Adam and I recently were talking about how this time of year we see an increase in house fires. And we thought it would be nice, if we could get out in front of those tragedies, by working together, and that’s how the winter warm up program began” says Mancountry’s Corey Samuels.
Many families who cannot afford to repair or replace malfunctioning furnace units fall to relying on space heaters as an alternative. Space heaters cause about one-third of all winter house fires and 80 percent of all winter heating fire deaths, the National Fire Protection Association said. Space heaters also account for more than 70 percent of all winter fire injuries and half of all property damage caused in heating fires, according to the report.
Of course Kraus and Mancountry cannot do this alone. They look to us, members of the community to help breathe life into the cause. With donations Kraus and Sons can donate the time and expertise to repair and replace furnaces, leaving no family in the cold or a dangerous situation this winter. So far the cause has brought on positive feed back and support in the community. All proceeds with go directly to the cause with any additional proceeds having the additional benefit of going towards the sponsorship of the Mancountry Special Needs Little League Team this spring.
