With the help of the city, Community Health Centers of Southeast Iowa is looking to open a new dental health clinic in Keokuk. The City council agreed to apply for a community development block grant on behalf of Community Health Centers Thursday. The plan calls for a 5 to 6,000 square foot clinic that is expected to cost roughly 1.6 million dollars. The clinic will be available to the public but will primarily aim to assist low to moderate income families. The CHC has attained funding for much of the project but is looking for the CDBG grant to cover the gap so that the group doesn’t have to go into any debt financing.
