With losses to Mount Pleasant and North Scott over the past two days for the boys and girls basketball teams, respectively, saw their seasons come to a close.
Both teams had successful years as the girls team captured a share of the SEC title thanks to a 7-1 conference record and advanced to the Regional Final on Tuesday night before falling 61-28 against the #2 team in the state.
The boys team doubled their win total from the previous season and had many firsts over the year.
One of these was a three game win streak for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
While both teams will say goodbye to a set of great seniors, there is plenty to be hopeful for in the future.
Four starters will return for each team, including guards Michenna Davis and Abby Wolter for the girls and three of the top scorers on the season for the boys in TyJai Mueller, Anthony Potratz and Isaiah Seay.
The biggest losses for each team will likely be MacKenzie Northup on the girls side, who led the team in scoring and was one of the best shooters in the area, and Alex Wolter for the boys.
Wolter led the conference in blocked shots while averaging 11.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Other seniors graduating from the programs are Tristen Kirk and Kommonie Moody for the boys and Abby Arrowood, Hailey Finch, Sadie Belba, Emily Buckner and Shelby Haage for the girls.
Kirk and Moody each found themselves as big contributors during different points of the season and Arrowood was one of the girls’ top rebounders and three point shooters this year.
Finch was one of the main guards off the bench for an ACL tear ended her season just four games into the year.
The final records on the season were 13-6 for the girls and 8-14 for the boys.
