Chief Teams with Different Motivations against Fairfield

Keokuk welcomes in Fairfield for a doubleheader on Friday night in girls and boys basketball. The girls team has an opportunity to sweep the season series against the Trojans and finish the conference season undefeated for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

They defeated Fairfield 60-47 back on Dec. 20, led by 27 points and 8 rebounds from senior MacKenzie Northup.

Junior Michenna Davis also chipped in with 14 as Keokuk led by 18-20 points for most of the contest.

If Fairfield wins out in conference play, they will tie the Chiefs for a share of the conference championship.

The boys team will be looking for payback after a 32 point loss to Fairfield that same night as Austin Simpson posted a 15 point, 15 rebound and 10 assist triple-double against the Chiefs.

The Trojans are 12-3 entering this week with two of their losses coming to teams ranked in the top 10 in 3A boys basketball.

Keokuk has lost two straight since an impressive win on the road against Mount Pleasant on Jan. 18. Three of their last four losses have come by fewer than five points.

The games will start at 6:15 and 7:45 for the girls and boys, respectively.
