The 2018 Southeast Conference Volleyball teams have been announced with several Chiefs seeing their names on the list.
Junior captain Isabel Vandenberg was named to the 2nd Team after leading the Chiefs in several categories this season, including kills with 164 on the season which was also good for fifth in the conference.
Vandenberg also contributed 75 digs and 15 aces as well, which were each good for third on the team this season.
Among the 14 players named to the 1st and 2nd Teams, Vandenberg was one of just five non-seniors.
Outside of the two main teams, sophomore Keleigh Hall and junior Cassidy Koeber were also named honorable mention.
The top server for the team this year, Hall had a .946 service efficiency this year to go along with a team leading 21 aces and she also had 40 kills as well.
A strong offensive player already coming into the season, Koeber made great strides defensively and finished with a team leading 94 digs and finishing top five on the team in kills, blocks and aces.
Keokuk also had several players be honored for their academic success Vandenberg and Koeber along with classmate Michenna Davis were named Academic All-Conference as well for maintaining at least a 3.25 grade point average.
Davis served as the team’s setter this season and finished fifth in the conference with 234 assists with 20 aces, ten blocks and 50 digs.
The Chiefs may have finished the year just 4-19 (1-7), but they will return all but one of their starters for the 2019 season.
They have increased their win totals in each of the last two seasons and with many of the other teams in the conference graduating some of their top talent, the future is bright for Keokuk.
