The Great River Region United Way has announced the dates for its 2 golf tournaments it will be holding this year. In 2016 the local United Way chapter held just one tournament last year and it was a daytime event, which did away with the nighttime tournament that was held in previous years. According to director Jaclyn Lansing, the demand this year was to bring back the glow golf tournament. So in 2017 the United Way will hold an 18 hole tournament May 12th at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison as well as a 9-hole glow golf tournament August 4th at Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton. According to Lansing, the proceeds raised from the 2 tournaments are an important part of Great River Region United Way funding for local charities. In 2016 the Great River Region United Way provided grants to 28 local charities and anyone interested in joining either golf tournament is encouraged to contact Jaclyn Lansing at 524-4504.
