HANCOCK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT VOTED ON COUNTYWIDE SALES TAX INCREASE

Another Hancock County School District has voted to put a countywide sales tax increase to a referendum ballot. The Warsaw School Board joined Dallas, La Harpe, Carthage, Hamilton, and Nauvoo in approving the referendum which would increase the countywide sales tax from 6.25 to 7.25 percent. Southeastern school district has not voted for the increase which has already attained the required 51 percent of school districts approval needed to be placed on the ballot.  The proceeds from the tax increase would be split between school districts in the county based on population. The referendum will be voted on by the residents of Hancock County on April 4th, 2107.
